BATTERY STORAGE

When does a battery add value?

A battery is not automatically better than solar alone. Storage earns its place when the site's load, tariff, export position or flexibility creates a real use case.

MizanPower's online calculator is a first screen, not a quotation. A project decision should use site-specific roof, consumption, tariff and grid information.

Increase on-site solar use

If solar generation regularly exceeds site demand, storage can shift some energy into later consumption periods instead of exporting it immediately.

Tariff optimisation

Where electricity prices vary by time, a battery may create value by changing when the site imports or uses stored energy. The actual tariff and operating constraints matter.

Peak and capacity considerations

Some commercial sites may benefit from managing short periods of high demand, subject to the site's tariff and technical design.

Flexibility opportunities

Additional market or flexibility revenues can exist for suitable assets, but they should be treated as a separate, evidence-based revenue layer rather than assumed in the initial solar case.

Start with interval data

Half-hourly consumption data is the key input. It lets us model the battery against the real load profile instead of guessing from an annual bill.
